About Us

Francine grew up in the Congo of Africa. As a young child she watched the women of her family and community crocheting daily. She was so enamored by the process she would often opt to sit and watch the women crochet instead of running around and playing with the other children. In 2000, Francine came to the U.S. and Francine began to take up crocheting recreational. Pleased with how much she was able to remember about the press from her childhood Francine began crocheting for friends and family. Overtime she developed such a following with her designs, that many suggested she begin designing professionally. Makuwa Swimwear was born.
